My E-mail response to the consumer with the following question:
"Is it possible to register for a library card online. I am having difficulty getting into the library when open due to my crazy work schedule."
Then following is my response via E-mail - a face-to-face response may be a bit different. Along with the library card form going in the mail so did a book mark with our hours. For this particular patron this is the best we can do.
At this time it is not possible - the best I can do is drop a form in the mail for you but you would still need to stop in because we require a proof of I.D. to issue a library card. If your driver's license does not have your current address on it a piece of mail or a bill addressed to the Blue Spruce Lane address can be used as proof that you live there. I will put it in the mail on Saturday. Thank you in advance for signing up for a library card.

Also, I could have suggested going to another library in SCLS that have more evening hours or Sunday hours but reminding her that correct I.D. is extremely important and she would not get her card immediately because the application form would need to be sent back here and then a card would be issued and could be mailed to her. What it comes down to is no one defined answer necessarily fits all situations.

What if you email the form? We have a pdf document that you can send as an attachment. You could include a document about the library as well. dcf 6/22
ReplyDeleteThe pdf document is located in My Documents, MASTERS - SIGNS, LABELS, ETC and is named 09 Library Application. It can easily be emailed as an attachment.
ReplyDeleteThis is a good idea as long as additional info. goes along with it includes the need to visit the library to get a card because of the ID requirement. We wouldn't want them filling out the form, scanning it into their computer and E-mailing it back expecting to get a card. JB
